To-ji (Kyoo Gokoku-ji)
A World Heritage temple associated with the monk Kukai (Kobo Daishi). Its roughly 55-meter five-story pagoda, Japan's tallest wooden pagoda, is a landmark visible even from Kyoto Station. The monthly "Kobo-ichi" market is a local favorite.
